How and when will I know if my story has been accepted?

We send emails in response to standard submissions made at our submission site, and competition results are announced in our monthly emailed bulletins. We also often call the authors of the accepted pieces. (If you don’t get our bulletins—and have already set up an ID for yourself at the site—you might want to put glimmertrainpress.com and mail.glimmertrainpress.com on your safe-senders list, and you can always check our bulletin archives, if you like, too. We have some pretty interesting material in them.)
Please check the Writing Guidelines for response times. And you can always log in and click on My Submissions to check status on submissions you’ve made at the site. (Paper submissions are not tracked, but they are read! If your story is accepted, we will call you.)
Thank you for letting us read your work!

Every story we publish is unsolicited, and 86% of the stories we accepted last year came to us directly from the writer.
That's exactly how we like it.
